It's possible you can't add links to your first few posts (maybe an adbot protection thing? If not, it could just be some trouble with the BBcode formatting if you're not used to it, or the links you've used).
The paragraph formatting is a bit annoying, but I've found if you do enter + shift, you can jump down a paragraph and it holds, instead of you getting everything in a single paragraph. It seems to be spesific to a few forums, not all.
URLs wrapped in writing are
[ url= https..... ] text [/ url ]
(without spaces, of course. You can use the "Insert hyperlink" button that looks like the Earth)
Images are (using a working image link, not the URL for the site you've uploaded to)
[ img ] https..... [/ img ]
(again, without spaces - You can use the "Insert Image" button that looks like a picture on a wall)
