Didn't you hear the loud train, Ginnie? That's how you know it's a tornado and it's time to get underground. After you crawl out of your hidey-hole and look around outside, you can tell if it was a tornado or straight line winds by the direction the trees hit the ground. All straight - just wind.
Once upon a time I was driving down the road with my husband in Alexandria, VA, and ended up racing a tornado down the street! We didn't have them, do the wispy tendrils and flying debris meant nothing!
We usually don't get tornadoes this early in the season. But wow. Depending on where you live, was the mess in your yard. Lots of trees, barn tops, and shed parts scattered across the countryside. The good thing is as far as I know, no one lost the roof and top floor of their home, no one got hurt. Our yard is just whatever blew off the trees, and tons of willow tree twigs. The willow tree drops twigs whenever its bored as well.
I know how I feel on special days Trudi, it is hard. I miss my husband dreadfully and at times feel like I cannot cope. I do have lots of family and friends that help me. I hope you have someone who can comfort you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sending lots of love your way.
