TS2 Feenwald's painting frames SOLVED
« on: May 23, 2016, 07:54:35 PM »
Hi, Pearls!
This is my first request ever, so I hope I have done everything like I should have.
I just love this painting by Feenwald, I am using it in all my castles and many contemporary houses too. I have done many recolors of the painting itself, but I am not able to make any decent looking frames  headach
I would love to have light silver recolor of this particular Feenwald's frame:

And maybe some new frame options, something like that:

These are just for illustration; I mean something less ornate and less antique than Feenwald's originals, maybe one with combination of wood and gold, but you can come with whatever you might like, I will be absolutely happy with any recolors  :)
Also, I am in no rush.

The link above leads to the page where you can download the mesh and frame recolor, and here is Feenwald's TOU.
Thank you,
Marioneve

I've made some shiny recolours once...Let me see if I can get to make it work with this frame...
https://app.box.com/s/720zg7ja32rvngogjup3uydn6hdsitoh ...
You can see the ingame picture :

Let me know if it works for you...It seam there is a shadow on it, I don't know why, I didn't see it when I took the picture, but my display is krappy...

It looks absolutely perfect! Thank you!
 :88:

EDIT: I have tested it both on my super old PC and on my notebook with good graphic card, and that shadow is caused probably by graphic card or display - it was even more visible and there was another big one in low corner when testing on my PC, but on my notebook the frame looks good.
Thank you very very much for for your help, I really appreciate it!
 :flowheartpink :thankeefrog

NEXT EDIT: It seems that it is something else apart from old graphic card. This is the way the frame looks in game on my notebook when looking on it from a little upside:

It is completely fine.
But when looking at the painting directly like you would really stay in front of it or from the Apartment Life function for ability to make ceilings, it looks like this:

I have no idea what causes this.

I don't know if it makes a difference with another lighting mode. I have the one that I installed with Scriptorium and some paintings look weird if I lower them...I don't know if you could use this on your notebook, but maybe I could try to do some other recolors and see if it could be usable on old displays...maybe to noticed if the same shadow appear on the mesh itself...
Now that I look at your pictures, maybe the shininess is too high, allthou in the first one it seam rather dark...

I agree with you - it may look this way because of too much shininess together with the possible issues of mesh itself. I know it must be very old mesh, the page states year 2008.
I am not using mod that came with Scriptorium or any other fixture for lightning, it works fine on my notebook, but I did not like it. As for old graphic card, there is no need to make recolors usable on old graphics, I am not using the old PC for gaming anymore, I was just trying to figure out what may cause the shadows on the frame  :)

I  didn't check with different angles with the radiance mod, so I need to go in game, but I wonder if I fiddle a bit with TXTM parameters...I must read the tutorial again...

This mesh is not flat like a usual picture frame- it is modeled to be dimensional. The shadows you see are part of the mesh and the "shinyness" makes them show up more. This is what the mesh looks like with no texture:

So all recolors will have to made knowing that the mesh does this and you cannot get it to be straight or flat.

All things considered...Made this for you.
One recolor of your chosen frame with no shine at all:
https://app.box.com/s/1xt6xgsawmbd4samto6zg01ggnzqop1t
in my game looks like this, no shadow:

Other silver frame with wood:
https://app.box.com/s/0ca64bwuopdi6naizcnn5don66a9ix6t
...looking like this:

A shabby one:
https://app.box.com/s/kj06v7mlbcets3t9bl7r4xs1s0kikalx

and a gold one I wanted a bit modern touch...don't look good in silver:

You decide...Let me know if you want something changed...

...and in my game I looked at the silver frame in all angles,in all views looks the same...

Uh, this was one of my first meshes, and I guess it will be possible to improve this to get rid of the shadows. I´m gonna check this out.

Holy crap, in 2008 I was such a noob.  lolsmile

Today, I would do it in a completly different way wich would save 80% of the polys, but this would mean that your recolors will no longer work. So I decided to only improve the mesh in a first step (maybe I´m gonna make a second version later).

I fixed the gaps, removed the shadows you mentioned above (shinyness should now work), reduced the polys a bit and adjusted the wallshadow to the appearance of the painting.

You can get it here: http: //www.feenwald.de/en/deko/gem_antik_qu01-01.php
(I´m sorry, I´m still not allowed to post links, so please copy the link and remove the space between : and //)

I thought I saw the improved mesh somewhere , but I couldn't reach your site to check...I will redo the silver recolours...Thanks...it looks so nice!
...Sorry but the link still didn't work for me...
Sorry, I found out the original link from the top of the page works...I will update the recolours as soon as I redownload the mesh...
Edit:I find out I don't have to redone the recolours...Made some extra recolours in Festivus thread.
