Title: Carrie's TS2 Album
Post by: Carrie on October 30, 2015, 04:26:30 AM
These are a few photos from a napping spot area in the personal garden section of Applewood Acres...so far. I'm the kind of person that will sometimes take up to a week to create just 1 lot....and then go back, and edit the heck out of it for another week. So far, this is the only thing I have almost completed on the whole lot (which is a Maxis 3 x 5 lot).

More from Applewood Acres. As you can probably tell, I've added a LOT, and removed the napping area (for now - so that I can rebuild it properly, as I found some new plants I wanted to add in). I added a wood cutter's shed, an herb garden, some apple trees, a pathway and a potter's shed. FAR from done, but it's progress.

I'm big on making over Maxis homes. Let's face it, from an architectural stand point, they're 'ok', but we all end up re-arranging just about everything possible once we start with them. Well, here's my Maxis Makeover for the Modern Masterpiece home.

I've been working on an office for one of my Sims, Emma, who is a Botanist. As such, I figured she ought to have a botany themed office, yes? So, this is the beginning of her office (which sits above her greenhouse).

Well, it's been a week, so far, working on my little Druid's shed. This is one of the corner sheds on the lot that houses chickens, rabbits and feed supplies. My largest one is more of a long-house style barn, but it's not even close to being as done as this shed is.

PS: I have an ultra crappy graphics card in my old laptop atm, so forgive the 'stairs' in any of my screen shots.  minibud

Love that little house Carrie, so cute, think it'll look spectacular with a traditional english garden growing round it, with little brick pathways!

Funny you should mention the path idea, ekrubynaffit! I've been filing through my textures, trying to come up with a good 'dirty grain stone' type ground cover that I can use for a path way. Not the ordinary path, but rather something that's got semi-worn, kind of half-buried, mossy covered trampled on a million times type ground texture. It will take me awhile....and I may need to nap on it a bit...but I'll get it done!

Well, it seems that my 'monochrome' Sim, Fiona, has gotten herself into a bit of a snafu....again. She's a Virgo, and an artist - at the top of her career I might add - and well, sometimes, not everything always goes according to plan. See, this is her office:

(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/FionaOffice2_zpskmixgzpr.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/FionaOffice2_zpskmixgzpr.jpg.html)

See? Pretty much monochrome. Why, I'm not sure, but every time I tried to add a lot of color, she didn't seem to like it, and at one point, she nearly had a bout of psychosis when I used bright colors in her office. So now, she likes her office....however, one thing seems to always happen when she's on the computer...

(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/FionaOffice1_zpspvabyzej.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/FionaOffice1_zpspvabyzej.jpg.html)

She always manages to get her left foot stuck under the furnishings. Go figure. It must be an artist's thing. The 'fun' doesn't end there. Out of all the Sims in the neighborhood, everyone just looooooooooooooooooooves Fiona. So much so that she just can't seem to even use the loo without a random person coming in to wash their hands.

(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/FionaBathroom1_zpsvjlnadyd.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/FionaBathroom1_zpsvjlnadyd.jpg.html)

Well, may as well make the most of it and chat awhile next to the loo, right?

Trying my hand, yet again, at a more modern home I designed awhile back. Not sure I'm really keen on the architecture, but the semi-monochrome look/feel I am beginning to enjoy. This is what I have so far:

Living/Lounge Area

(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/Livingroom_zps6y2krne6.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/Livingroom_zps6y2krne6.jpg.html)

Indoor Pool

(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/indoorpool_zpsyctistwz.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/indoorpool_zpsyctistwz.jpg.html)

Entry/Foyer

(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/EntryFoyer_zpsc6qmdf3u.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/EntryFoyer_zpsc6qmdf3u.jpg.html)

(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/EntryFoyer2_zpsf6qgxae6.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/EntryFoyer2_zpsf6qgxae6.jpg.html)

I'm trying to keep it as minimalist as possible, which, considering I'm a clutter freak, is driving me nuts! OK, more nuts than I already am.

Just a few close up shots of 3 of the 24 new wallpapers I made today. I've been working on a botanical series, and I figured it's probably best for me to start with the easier stuff first. You know... wallpaper, flooring, curtains....that stuff. So, these are the wallpapers.

Well, I made more walls and floors for my Sims. Last time I went nuts with the botany prints. This time, it's nautical prints (walls and floors). I used Ralph Lauren Nautical wallpapers to make the walls, and 1 floor. Figured I'd post a few in-game shots of the papers :)

Well, I figured it would be fun to make MY family in Sims2. I was going to go ahead and make them age appropriate. However, when I realized that both myself, and Jerry (real life hubby), would have to be elders in the game....well, that just wasn't going to happen. Neither of us sport any noticeable grey (key word - noticeable....as we've both had grey strands since we were in our late teens), and we're far from decrepit looking. So, 2 adults, and 4 teens it was. No, I didn't include the pets, because you're only allowed so many pets in the game, and I just would not be able to NOT include them all.

 beavyboy

So, I make my family. I put them on an empty starter lot. I have them all watching the clouds while I begin to build the house. Annnnnnnnnd.....this is what happened within the first 30 seconds (literally) of the game play....

This is Blu Byrdd. She is my most recent move-in to a derelict home. As you can see, she has taken up several hobbies - even when her home is almost completely redecorated.

She enjoys mopping the front lawn....

Having water fights with the shower (the shower won this particular round)....

And, her latest hobby, attempting to siphon her way to the basement....via the loo.

I do not understand why they should jump up the water out. My Sims usually wash the aquarium all the time so it gets wet everywhere. Though it may be a little fun with all the quirky things that they do.

Ok, so I'm trying my hand at something rather ULTRA new for me. Retro decor. Although I was born in the late 1960s, I sincerely loathe almost anything to do with the late 1960s/early 1970s. That being said, I'm fairly certain that this is not a truly 'retro' decorated home. I was shooting for the late 1950s/early 1960s, which is more my style of retro. Any hints, help and suggestions on making this look more into that era would be most appreciated. Oh, and before anyone mentions it... please, I beg of you, do not ask me to add anything with Elvis, or The Beatles.  Thanks!!

1. The downstairs guest room. When I was growing up, most of the people I knew had some sort of guest room (including my folks), that generally consisted of spare furnishings they had from years past. Usually, there was some random chair, a small dresser (that held odds and ends from around the house - in my mom's case, it was wrapping paper and spare tea towels), lamps and very few wall hangings.
(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/RetroHouseDeco1_zpsb2fxpxh3.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/RetroHouseDeco1_zpsb2fxpxh3.jpg.html)

2. My house was built in the late 1940s, so we didn't have wallpaper in the kitchen, nor did we have the colored appliances and cabinets. Most of my friends, however, had kitchens that were 'ultra mod' for the era. Kind of like this...oh, and there's the hallway in the image too.
(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/RetroHouseDeco2_zpswowog4jq.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/RetroHouseDeco2_zpswowog4jq.jpg.html)

3. House entry looking into the kitchen.
(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/RetroHouseDeco3_zpsuekamzff.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/RetroHouseDeco3_zpsuekamzff.jpg.html)

4. Living room - angle 1
(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/RetroHouseDeco4_zpswzqarlwn.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/RetroHouseDeco4_zpswzqarlwn.jpg.html)

5. Living room - angle 2

And that's what I've got done so far.

Well, I've been trying my best to get a decent livable retro style house going, and I think I've finally got the hang of it (or, at least I'm starting to)! lol
My 'retro' era style is more along the lines of mid-1950s/mid-1960s. Thus, the 'combo' look in the style. This is what I have with 1 house make over...so far. One of my main Sims, Emily Black, is living in this particular home. Not sure how I like the lay out though. I might have to copy and overhaul it on a new lot. But...this is what I've got thus far.

This is what I have done, thus far, on my redecoration of Minea's Mockdoty house. Obviously, I'm not even close to being done with the exterior, and just have the front mostly done. Again, not completely done, but mostly. I just have to add a few details here and there. Unfortunately, my schedule isn't allowing me much play time this week, so I won't be able to get to the interior of the house until at least next Monday. Well, here it is - so far.

I seriously had to do a lot of research on houses like these, so it's going to be a bit of a 'mixed bag' with the Southwest thing, but I'm so glad you like it thus far! Your industrial look is fantastic! I can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the home!

This is the entry area. I kept the room with the original lay out, including the stairs. As much as I love these stairs, they do make it difficult for screen shots. LOL Anyway, the entry:

As viewed from the living room:

Catch-all Desk nook behind the stairs:

I've had to make a few recolors for the southwestern style of the house. Small stuff, but it's all in the details, right? My first set to recolor was Jonesi's bed blanket into some southwestern patterns. I made 12, still not sure which one(s) I'm going to use. LOL

The only reason I'm having to, is because the Southwestern style (like the Industrial one), is something specific I have never tried before, so the only thing that I have ever had for that kind of decor, are a bunch of various cactus plants that either came with sets, or from Macarossi's desert landscape set. So pretty much, outside of a few plants, and stucco walls, I had absolutely nothing when it came to anything remotely close to a Southwestern style.

So I guess that means that I'm going to end up having a ton of recolors as well for everyone to download pretty soon. LOL

This is PART of the living room (which in that house, is rather large, and very nice). LOTS of room to play in inside this room, so I'm really enjoying this room. TONS of recolors for this room as well, not all are shown, and I'm still working on it. LOL

I've decided that the person who lives in the Mockdoty house is a professional artist, and as such, requires an in-home art studio. So, I made one.

3 Pics from my latest community lot, I'll Be Bach (yep, it's a music store). While I was watching Mission Impossible 5: Rogue Nation, in the very early part of the film, Tom Cruise's character goes into a record shop in London. He is given a record, and then is directed to a listening/preview room. I thought that was such a cool feature for a record shop to have, so, I incorporated 4 of them into my new shop on its second floor. These are images from that section of the shop. :)

1. Interior of the room (as best as I could get it, as it's a 3x3 room, which makes it extremely difficult to get good screen shots lol
(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/IBBPreview1_zpsdtuunqlu.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/IBBPreview1_zpsdtuunqlu.jpg.html)

2. Exterior of the rooms. I made the wall stickers from Jope's wall tattoo, because it's shiftable, and shows up well on door surfaces. Obviously, it's just deco, so if I play this lot, I'll have to move the door number stickers to the wall next to the doors.
(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/IBBPreview3_zpsdrsmxb5o.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/IBBPreview3_zpsdrsmxb5o.jpg.html)

3. The Hallway just in front of the preview rooms (so far - as I haven't quite decided if I'm going to keep this as a deco lot, or a playable one)

Maxis Makeover Time!! Well, the Sim I made, who is to be the future owner of the shop, I'll Be Bach, needed to start off with something. And, since that particular Sim happens to be Pynke Dotz, well...no self-respecting, pink-haired, sweat suit wearing Sim would be caught dead in a Maxis home. However, that's all she could afford. Until we tweaked it a bit. Here's the results. Btw, yes, this is the EXACT same home, just realllllly overhauled (the original exterior footprint of the home is still 100% the same). I simply knocked down the interior walls, and added a second story. Hope you like them :)

One of my community lots called 'Raven's Roost' - a Pagan Shoppe. It's a WIP though, so this is basically the only room I have done. It's the owner's office on the main floor. The lot itself is a 3 story Victorian home, converted into a shoppe. Lots of nooks and crannies for everyone to explore! Well, here's the office :)

(http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Carrie_Blakley/RavensRoostSS1_zpsns9yr9ak.jpg) (http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/Carrie_Blakley/media/RavensRoostSS1_zpsns9yr9ak.jpg.html)

Apologies for the particularly crap graphics card I have at the moment, for it will not allow me to take better screen shots.  bagshy

Apologies for having taken so long to respond. Yes, the golden frame in the corner is indeed one of Adele's windows. The dragon circular frame is my own creation, to fit over a circular mirror. I made several ornate wall hangings like this for the shoppe. I think I included them in my Samhain download on my tumblr. It's been a bit, so I can't really remember off the top of my head as to which collection it's originally from. LOL
 lolol
UPDATE EDIT: Yep, it was part of my Samhain  set! I made the mirror frame on Jope's wall tattoo (You can find it here: https://carriests2designsworld.tumblr.com/post/150583955603/jopes-wall-tattoos-in-samhain-recolors-meshes)

Don't be sorry for the graphics, it doesn't count. Only creativity is judged there and you're talented. The pagan shop is absolutely fantastic , very detailed. I think the final will be terrific.
I also like what you've done with my favourite ever maxis house in the sims 2 and the music room is great.
